One of the scenario whereby one which our existing hard disk becomes full and has to be replaced with a hard disk we have bigger capacity. Then what happens to our old hard disk replacement. We may leave it anywhere in our home or pass it to someone else to use it. Then what will happen to the information in our hard disk. It may be misused by people has gained possess to our hard disk. This is also similar to that case where we recycled our computer or sell our computer to a second hand shop.
Therefore it is crucial that we remove the information on the hard disk before passing it to any parties. One of the way would be to use "diskpart" command Windows. Diskpart can be used to manage disks, partitions and volumes.
c:\> diskpart
DISKPART> list disk DISKPART> select disk 0 DISKPART> clean DISKPART> create partition primary DISKPART> select partition 1 DISKPART> active DISKPART> format FS=NTFS LABEL="New Volume" QUICK DISKPART> assign letter=c DISKPART> exit
When this is done, you will have a hard disk that is clean. The original information on the hard disk will be removed.
